Terms of service

1. Who May Use the Service

The Services are available only to individuals who are at least 16 years old, or older if the laws that apply to you set a higher minimum age. Users under 18 must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian before creating an account or using the Services, and the parent or guardian is responsible for the minor's use of the Services.

Accounts must be registered by real people. Accounts created through automated tools, scripts, or bots are not permitted and will be terminated without notice.

You may not use the Services if doing so is prohibited by laws that apply to you, or if we have previously suspended or terminated your account for violating these Terms. If you use the Services on behalf of a company or other organization, you confirm that you are authorized to bind it to these Terms.

Each account holder is solely responsible for all activity carried out through their account, including any consequences that arise from that activity.

2. The Services & Changes to the Services

The Services provide an encrypted connection between your device and servers operated by or for us, together with related features such as apps, browser extensions, protocols, ad and tracker blocking, and, on some plans, dedicated IP addresses. Features, protocols, server locations, device limits, and usage limits may differ by plan, platform, and region.

We may modify, add, limit, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time, including servers, locations, protocols, features, free plans, trials, and beta features. If we permanently discontinue a feature of a paid plan and the law requires it, we will refund the prepaid fees for the unused part of the affected period.

We do not guarantee any particular speed, availability, server location, or ability to access any particular website, app, or service. These depend on many factors outside our control, including your device, your internet provider, third-party blocking, and local law. The country shown for a server or IP address reflects our configuration; third-party IP geolocation databases are outside our control and may attribute our IP addresses to other locations.

Free plans, trials, and beta features are provided without any commitment, may be limited, and may be withdrawn at any time. To protect the security, stability, and fairness of the Services, we may apply technical measures such as rate limits, fair-use limits, and the blocking or restriction of certain ports or types of traffic.

3. Your Account & Security

You must provide accurate information when you register and keep it up to date. You may not register more than one account for the same purpose or impersonate any person or organization.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for choosing a strong, unique password. Because of the encrypted nature of our Services, we may be unable to recover an account if you lose your credentials; we therefore recommend that you add a recovery email address. If you suspect that your account has been accessed without your permission, you must notify us promptly through oursupport portal. Unless the unauthorized access was caused by our own breach of these Terms, you remain responsible for activity on your account.

You are responsible for your own devices, operating systems, browsers, and software, including keeping them updated and protected against malware. You should download our apps only from official sources. The Services do not replace antivirus software or other security measures, and we do not guarantee that they will block every threat. The number of devices you may connect at the same time is limited by your plan.

4. Permitted & Prohibited Use

You agree to use your account and the Services only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms. The following activities are explicitly prohibited:

1. Disrupting, overloading, or impairing the networks, servers, or infrastructure operated by ASTRO VPN AG;
2. Accessing, uploading, downloading, or distributing illegal content of any kind, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and terrorist content;
3. Infringing the intellectual property or personality rights of ASTRO VPN AG or any third party, including copyright infringement as described in Section 5;
4. Harassing, intimidating, defaming, or discriminating against any individual or group based on any protected characteristic;
5. Threatening or inciting violence, stalking, publishing another person's private information without their consent ("doxxing"), or sharing intimate images without the consent of the person depicted;
6. Selling, transferring, or sublicensing your account or access credentials to any other person or organization, unless expressly permitted in writing by ASTRO VPN AG;
7. Sharing login credentials with others outside what is explicitly permitted under your subscription tier;
8. Reselling or otherwise providing access to the Services to third parties without prior written authorization;
9. Distributing or promoting content that facilitates illegal conduct;
10. Committing or facilitating fraud, identity theft, payment-card fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, human trafficking, or any other crime;
11. Registering multiple free accounts for a single person or organization;
12. Accessing the Services through automated means (bots, scrapers, scripts, or similar tools) in a way that deviates significantly from normal human usage patterns or attempts to bypass security controls;
13. Circumventing, disabling, or interfering with any technical limit or security feature of the Services, including device, bandwidth, or connection limits;
14. Paying for a subscription with fraudulent or stolen payment credentials;
15. Sending unsolicited bulk messages, spam, phishing attempts, or malware via the Services;
16. Launching or taking part in denial-of-service attacks, or other attacks against third-party systems, networks, or users;
17. Operating or controlling botnets or malware command-and-control infrastructure, or running open proxies or similar relays for third parties through the Services;
18. Scanning, probing, or testing the vulnerability of third-party systems without authorization;
19. Attempting unauthorized access to systems, devices, or networks owned by third parties;
20. Attempting to identify other users of the Services or to interfere with their use of the Services;
21. Using the Services in breach of Section 7 (Sanctions & Export Controls);
22. Exploiting the referral program by referring your own alternate accounts to fraudulently obtain rewards;
23. Any other activity that is unlawful under the laws that apply to you, to us, or to the place where the server you connect to is located.

ASTRO VPN AG reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account found to have engaged in prohibited activity, to restrict or block specific traffic, and to take any other measure we consider appropriate. We do not monitor the content of your traffic, but we may act on third-party reports, on security and fraud signals, and on the limited operational information described in our Privacy Policy. Where practicable we will tell you why, but we may act immediately and without prior notice where necessary to stop ongoing abuse, protect our network and other users, or comply with the law. We may also terminate accounts upon lawful order from competent authorities. We are not obliged to give a refund for a suspension or termination that results from your violation of these Terms. Accounts that consume an unreasonably disproportionate share of bandwidth or other shared resources may have their usage capped or restricted to preserve a fair experience for all users.

If you believe your account has been suspended in error, you may submit an appeal through ourAccount Appeal Form. We will review it in good faith, but we are not obliged to reinstate an account or disclose the details of our decision.

5. Copyright, Abuse Reports & Repeat Infringers

ASTRO VPN AG provides a network connectivity service. We do not host, publish, store, select, or monitor the content that users send or receive through the Services, and we do not inspect the traffic passing through our network. We act solely as a technical intermediary.

You may not use the Services to infringe copyright or other intellectual property rights, including by copying, distributing, or making protected works available without the rights holder's authorization. A VPN does not change what is lawful: activity that is unlawful without a VPN remains unlawful with one.

Submitting a Notice

If you believe the Services are being used to infringe your copyright, send a written notice to[email protected]. To report other abuse originating from our network (for example spam, fraud, or network attacks), write to[email protected]. A copyright notice should include:

1. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
2. The IP address and, where possible, the server location involved, together with the date and time (including time zone) of the alleged activity;
3. The location (URL) of the infringing material or activity, where applicable;
4. Your name, postal address, email address, and telephone number;
5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the rights holder, its agent, or the law;
6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the rights holder or are authorized to act on the rights holder's behalf; and
7. Your physical or electronic signature.

We may reject notices that are incomplete, unclear, abusive, or sent in bulk without the specifics above. We are not required to respond to each notice individually or to tell the sender what action, if any, we have taken.

How We Respond

Because the Services are designed not to keep records of users' online activity, we generally cannot tell which user generated particular traffic, and we cannot disclose information we do not hold. Where a reported IP address is assigned exclusively to a single account, we may take action against that account. In response to a valid notice we may, at our discretion, restrict access to the reported server, IP address, or type of traffic; warn the account holder; or suspend or terminate the account.

Repeat Infringers

It is our policy to terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe the rights of others. We apply this policy on the basis of valid notices and other reliable information that we receive.

Appeals, False Notices & Reservation of Rights

If action was taken on your account because of a report and you believe it was a mistake, you may submit an appeal through ourAccount Appeal Formexplaining why, and we will review it in good faith. Submitting a notice that you know to be false or misleading may expose you to legal liability.

Receiving or acting on a notice is not an admission that we are liable for any user's activity, and we reserve all of our rights and defenses, including our status as a technical intermediary.

6. Legal Requests, Changes in Law & Our No-Logs Approach

ASTRO VPN is built to avoid logging your activity, your connection times, and your IP address, as explained in ourPrivacy policy. The limited information we do hold, such as account details and subscription and payment information, is also described there.

We respond to requests for user data only when they are legally valid and binding on us, for example an order from a competent Swiss authority or a request made through proper international legal assistance channels. We review requests for validity and scope, and we may challenge or decline requests that are invalid, overbroad, or unlawful. We can provide only the information we actually hold; we cannot provide data that we do not collect or retain. Where the law allows and it is practicable, we will notify the affected user of a request. We summarize the requests we receive in ourTransparency Report. Legal requests should be sent to[email protected].

Our no-logs design limits what we can disclose, but it does not make you anonymous or untraceable. Information you give to us or to the websites and services you use, malware or other software on your device, and other sources outside our control may still identify you. We make no promise that activity carried out through the Services cannot be traced by other means, and using the Services does not make unlawful activity lawful.

Changes in law.The laws that apply to us may change. You acknowledge that our no-logs approach describes how the Services are designed and operated today and is not a promise that this will never change. If we become legally required to collect, retain, or disclose data, or to identify users, we may do so to the extent required. In that case we will update this section and our Privacy Policy and, where the law allows, give notice before the change takes effect.

We may also preserve and disclose information that we hold where we believe in good faith that this is necessary to comply with the law, to enforce these Terms, to prevent fraud or abuse, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ASTRO VPN AG, our users, or others.

We treat child sexual abuse material and other serious crimes with zero tolerance. To the extent the law requires or permits, we may cooperate with competent authorities and take steps such as suspending accounts or restricting access.

7. Sanctions & Export Controls

You represent and promise that you are not (a) located in, ordinarily resident in, or organized under the laws of a country or region that is the target of comprehensive sanctions or embargoes under laws that apply to us, or (b) listed on, or owned or controlled by a person listed on, any sanctions list maintained by Switzerland, the United Nations, the European Union, or the United States.

You will not use the Services in violation of applicable sanctions or export control laws. We may block or restrict access to the Services from any country, region, or user where we consider it necessary to comply with the law or to manage legal risk, and we may suspend or terminate an account that we believe breaches this section.

8. Third-Party Services & Your Responsibility

You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you and with the terms of any websites, apps, streaming services, games, or other platforms you access while using the Services. Some third-party services restrict VPN use or limit access by country or region. Accessing them through the Services may violate their terms and may lead them to restrict or close your account with them. ASTRO VPN AG is not responsible for those consequences and does not guarantee that the Services will work with any particular third-party service.

Laws on VPN use differ between countries, and in some countries VPN use is restricted or prohibited. It is your responsibility to make sure that your use of the Services is lawful where you are. ASTRO VPN AG does not authorize, encourage, or condone any use of the Services that breaks the law or third-party terms.

The Services may contain links to, or work together with, third-party websites, apps, payment providers, and open-source components. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices.

9. Suspension & Termination

By you.You may stop using the Services and cancel your subscription at any time through your account dashboard. Cancelling prevents future charges but does not entitle you to a refund except as stated in these Terms or ourRefund Policy.

By us.We may suspend or terminate your account or your access to any part of the Services (a) if you breach these Terms or applicable law, (b) if we are required to do so by law or by a competent authority, (c) if we believe it is necessary to protect our network, our users, or ourselves from security, fraud, or legal risk, (d) for non-payment, or (e) if we stop offering the Services or the relevant plan. Where the reason is not your breach and the law or your plan entitles you to it, we will refund the prepaid fees for the unused part of your current billing period. Where practicable, we will notify you in advance, but we are not required to do so where Section 4 allows immediate action.

Effects.When your account ends, your right to use the Services ends immediately. We may delete your account and any associated data, subject to our legal obligations and our Privacy Policy, and we are not liable for the deletion. Provisions that by their nature are meant to continue will survive.

10. Inactive Accounts

ASTRO VPN AG reserves the right to suspend or delete free accounts that have remained inactive for a continuous period of 12 months or more. Where possible, we will send advance notice to the recovery email address linked to your account — 30, 15, and 7 days before any action is taken.

A free account is considered active if, within any 12-month window, you:

• Sign in to your account via a web, desktop, or mobile interface; or
• While signed in, actively use a Service (for example, connecting to a VPN server or opening the app dashboard).

Paid accounts under an active subscription are always treated as active, and this section does not apply to them. If your paid subscription lapses or is downgraded, the 12-month inactivity clock resumes from the date of downgrade.

If you anticipate a period of unavoidable inactivity lasting longer than 12 months, pleasecontact our support teamin advance so we can make a note on your account.

11. Disclaimers & Limited Warranties

The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind — express or implied — including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. ASTRO VPN AG does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service, or that the Services will meet your requirements.

In particular, we do not warrant that: (a) the Services will make you anonymous or untraceable; (b) the Services will be free from all security vulnerabilities, because no system is perfectly secure; (c) the Services will give you access to any particular website, app, or service or defeat any blocking or filtering; or (d) the Services will provide a particular speed or performance. While we design and operate the Services to minimize data collection, we do not warrant that data will never be collected, exposed, or disclosed as a result of legal compulsion, security incidents, or other events outside our reasonable control.

ASTRO VPN AG accepts no obligation to retain or recover account data after an account has been terminated or deleted. You acknowledge that due to the encrypted nature of our Services, we may be unable to recover access if you lose your account credentials.

Nothing in this section excludes any warranty or right that cannot be excluded under mandatory law.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are also not liable for: (a) the acts or omissions of third parties, including other users, internet providers, and third-party services; (b) any loss or restriction of your accounts with third-party services that results from your use of the Services; (c) the consequences of using the Services in breach of these Terms or of the laws that apply to you; (d) unauthorized access to your account that was not caused by our breach of these Terms; or (e) losses caused by events described in Section 20 (Force Majeure).

Where the Services do not meet the standard described in these Terms, your sole and exclusive remedies are, as applicable, the service credits described in Section 13, termination of your account, and a refund of prepaid fees for the unused part of your billing period as provided in these Terms.

To the extent the law allows, any claim relating to the Services or these Terms must be brought within one year after the cause of the claim arose, and only on an individual basis and not as a plaintiff or class member in any collective or representative proceeding.

These limitations do not apply to the extent prohibited by applicable law in your jurisdiction. In particular, nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under mandatory law, such as liability for intent or gross negligence.

13. Service Level Agreement

ASTRO VPN AG targets a monthly uptime of 99.95% or better for the Services. If we fall below this threshold in any given calendar month, eligible paid accounts may request a credit, which will be applied to the following billing cycle.

You must request a credit through oursupport portalwithin 30 days after the end of the affected month. Credits have no cash value and are applied only to future charges. Service credits are your sole and exclusive remedy for downtime.

The following are excluded from uptime calculations:

• Events caused by factors outside ASTRO VPN AG's reasonable control (force majeure);
• Disruptions caused by a user's own actions, third-party software, or user-managed hardware;
• Issues originating from internet service providers or network infrastructure not operated by ASTRO VPN AG;
• Blocking or throttling of VPN traffic by networks, governments, or third-party services;
• Downtime resulting from the suspension or termination of an account under these Terms;
• Planned maintenance announced at least 24 hours in advance.

14. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ASTRO VPN AG and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any third-party claims, damages, losses, fines, penalties, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) to the extent they arise out of or in connection with: (a) your use of the Services in violation of these Terms or applicable law; (b) your traffic, content, or activity carried out through the Services; (c) your violation of the rights of any third party, including intellectual property and privacy rights; or (d) any fine or penalty imposed on us that is attributable to your conduct.

This section does not apply to the extent a claim is caused by ASTRO VPN AG's own breach of these Terms, intent, or gross negligence. We will notify you of a claim covered by this section where practicable. We may take over the defense and settlement of the claim at your expense, and you agree to cooperate with us and not to settle any such claim without our written consent. If you are a consumer, this section applies only to the extent permitted by mandatory consumer protection law and only for damage caused by your culpable breach.

15. Privacy

OurPrivacy policydescribes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. By agreeing to these Terms, you also agree to our Privacy Policy. If you use ASTRO VPN in a business context where you act as a data controller and our processing of data is governed by the EU GDPR, ourData Processing Agreementapplies.

16. Intellectual Property

All trademarks, service marks, logos, and brand identifiers associated with ASTRO VPN are the exclusive property of ASTRO VPN AG. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right or license to use our trademarks, logos, or other proprietary designations without prior written consent. All goodwill derived from any permitted use of our trademarks accrues solely to ASTRO VPN AG.

All software, technology, content, and documentation forming part of the Services are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use our apps and extensions for your own use of the Services. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, modify, or distribute any part of the Services except as expressly permitted under these Terms or by applicable law. Third-party and open-source components are subject to their own license terms.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use them without any obligation to you.

17. Payment & Billing

ASTRO VPN subscriptions are billed on a monthly, annual, or bi-annual basis, depending on the plan you select at signup. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current pricing unless you cancel before the renewal date. Prices do not include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. We may change our prices; where required by law or where practicable, we will notify existing subscribers before a price change takes effect for their next renewal.

You are responsible for keeping your payment method current. If a renewal payment fails, your account may be downgraded to a free tier and subject to restrictions. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account dashboard. If you purchased through a third-party app store, that store's terms apply to billing and refunds.

7-day free trial:New subscriptions include a 7-day free trial period. You may cancel at any time during the trial to avoid being charged. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin and your payment method will be charged according to the plan you selected.

Except as provided in ourRefund Policyor required by law, fees are non-refundable. Accounts terminated for violations of these Terms are not eligible for refunds. Refunds, where applicable, are issued in the original currency and to the original payment method only. To the extent permitted by law, disputes or chargebacks initiated through a third-party payment processor constitute a waiver of any refund right described above. We may refuse or reverse a payment that we reasonably suspect to be fraudulent or unlawful.

Where we accept cryptocurrency, payments are processed by third-party payment providers. Blockchain transactions are irreversible, you are responsible for any network fees, and payments sent to the wrong address or in the wrong amount may not be recoverable.

Certain plans are designated for businesses and organizations. By subscribing to a business plan, you confirm that you are acting on behalf of a commercial entity, and statutory consumer protections do not apply to your subscription to the extent permitted by law.

Referral Program

ASTRO VPN AG may offer account credits or other incentives for referring new users who create and activate a paid account. These incentives are granted at our discretion and do not constitute a guaranteed entitlement. We may change or end the referral program at any time. Self-referrals or other attempts to abuse the referral system will result in disqualification and may result in account suspension.

Delinquent Accounts

If a paid account lapses due to non-payment, paid features such as additional devices, dedicated IP addresses, and premium locations may be disabled, and the account may be reverted to the free plan or suspended. Accounts that remain in this state for 12 consecutive months may be permanently deleted.

18. Plan Changes & Cancellation

Upgrading

If you upgrade to a higher-tier plan mid-cycle, the change takes effect immediately. A prorated credit for the unused portion of your current billing period will be applied automatically to your account balance.

Downgrading or Cancelling

To prevent automatic renewal, you must downgrade or cancel your subscription before the end of the current billing period. Downgrading before the end of your cycle entitles you to a prorated credit for the remaining term, valid for 24 months. ASTRO VPN AG does not automatically remove paid features on your behalf — you must disconnect any devices and stop using any features that exceed the free plan limits before downgrading.

Changing Your Billing Cycle

Switching to a longer billing cycle (e.g. from monthly to annual) takes effect at the end of your current subscription cycle.

19. Changes to These Terms

ASTRO VPN AG may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will indicate the revision date at the top of this page. Changes that are required by law, or that we make to address a legal or security risk, may take effect immediately. Your continued use of the Services after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with an update, you should stop using the Services and cancel your subscription. We encourage you to review this page periodically. For significant changes, we may also notify you via email or an in-app notice where required by applicable law.

20. Force Majeure

We are not liable for any failure or delay in providing the Services that is caused by events beyond our reasonable control. These include natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil unrest, strikes, epidemics, power or telecommunications failures, failures of data-center, hosting, or network providers, cyberattacks, actions or orders of governments or authorities, sanctions, blocking or throttling of VPN traffic, and changes in law.

21. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if modification is not possible. The remaining provisions of these Terms will continue in full force and effect.

22. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the substantive laws of Switzerland, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, regardless of your location and excluding conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or related to these Terms, your account, or the Services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of the Canton of Geneva, Switzerland. We may, however, seek urgent or injunctive relief in any competent court.

If you are a consumer residing in a jurisdiction where mandatory local consumer protection laws apply, those laws may grant you additional rights that these Terms do not limit or waive.

Informal Resolution First

Before initiating any formal legal proceeding, both parties agree to first attempt to resolve the dispute informally. The party raising a dispute should provide written notice describing the issue and the relief sought, giving the other party 30 days to respond before proceeding further. This does not prevent either party from seeking urgent relief to protect its rights.

23. Miscellaneous

Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory rights you may have as a consumer under applicable law.

Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect the interpretation of any provision. The word "including" means "including without limitation".

ASTRO VPN AG's failure to enforce any provision of these Terms at any time does not constitute a waiver of that or any other provision.

Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship between you and ASTRO VPN AG. These Terms do not give rights to any third party, except that the persons named in Section 14 may rely on it.

Notices.We may give you notice by posting it on our website, through an in-app notice, or by email to the address linked to your account. You may give us notice at[email protected]or at our registered address stated above. By using the Services you agree to receive notices from us in electronic form.

Sections that by their nature are meant to continue after your account ends — including those on liability, indemnification, intellectual property, and governing law — will survive termination of your account or these Terms.

ASTRO VPN AG may assign or transfer its rights and obligations under these Terms (in whole or in part) to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. You may not assign your account or any rights under these Terms without prior written consent.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Refund Policy, and any plan-specific terms, constitute the entire agreement between you and ASTRO VPN AG with respect to the Services, and supersede all prior agreements or communications on the subject matter.

In the event of any conflict between a translated version of these Terms and the English original, the English version shall prevail.
